Agua frescas are refreshing Mexican fruity drinks with a squeeze of lime and some form of added sweetness such as honey or agave, sometimes referred to as Mexican watermelon water. Here, I’m making a watermelon and Moroccan mint tea agua fresca that’s perfect for enjoying al fresco. I like to add just a small squeeze of honey, feel free to switch to agave, maple syrup, sugar or homemade simple syrup.
What Does a Watermelon and Mint Agua Fresca Taste Like?
An agua fresca is a seriously refreshing fruit juice drink typically enjoyed in the summer time but can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Agua fresca means fruit water and can be made with any type of fruit. I love using watermelon and mint just like in this recipe with Moroccan mint tea. The taste of watermelon is so naturally sweet and the colour is wonderfully vibrant just like a bright red fruit punch.
