Making Chai Sangria at Home
INGREDIENTS (Serves 8)
4 Heaped Teaspoons of Chai Tea or 4 Tea Bags
1 Bottle of Chianti Red Wine (or your favorite red wine)
1 Cup of Orange Juice
2-4 Shots of Brandy
1/2-1 Cup (125ml) Simple Syrup - adjust according to taste
1 Apple plus extra for garnish
1 Orange plus extra for garnish
METHOD
Using disposable tea bags or cut pieces of muslin cloth, place a teaspoon of chai tea in each and tie the top so that the herbs are secure.
Cut the apple and orange into slices and place into the jug.
Pour the red wine, orange juice and brandy over the fruit and mix well.
Drop the chai tea bags into the mixture and put the jug into the fridge for around 4 hours, or longer if you wish for a stronger brew. Alternatively, add sparkling water if you prefer a lighter taste.
Add simple syrup to taste.
Pour the infused sangria over large glasses of ice and slices of apples and oranges.
