Chai Tea Spiced Sangria

Making Chai Sangria at Home

INGREDIENTS (Serves 8)

  • 4 Heaped Teaspoons of Chai Tea or 4 Tea Bags

  • 1 Bottle of Chianti Red Wine (or your favorite red wine)

  • 1 Cup of Orange Juice

  • 2-4 Shots of Brandy

  • 1/2-1 Cup (125ml) Simple Syrup - adjust according to taste

  • 1 Apple plus extra for garnish

  • 1 Orange plus extra for garnish

METHOD

  • Using disposable tea bags or cut pieces of muslin cloth, place a teaspoon of chai tea in each and tie the top so that the herbs are secure.

  • Cut the apple and orange into slices and place into the jug.

  • Pour the red wine, orange juice and brandy over the fruit and mix well.

  • Drop the chai tea bags into the mixture and put the jug into the fridge for around 4 hours, or longer if you wish for a stronger brew. Alternatively, add sparkling water if you prefer a lighter taste.

  • Add simple syrup to taste.

  • Pour the infused sangria over large glasses of ice and slices of apples and oranges.
