Making G and Blooming Teas at Home

INGREDIENTS (Serves 6)

  • 1 Flowering tea ball - I like using a rose tea ball for this recipe

  • 2 Cups of freshly boiled water

  • 6 Shots of gin - I like using rose flavored gin!

  • 1/4 Cup of white sugar - adjust to taste

METHOD

  • Place your preferred tea ball in a large tea pot, pour over freshy boiled water (100*C/212*F) The water must be boiling for the flower to open up fully. It will float for a few moments before settling on the bottom where it will start to unravel. This will take around 5-8 minutes.

  • Once the tea has steeped, remove the tea ball so that the brew doesn’t become too bitter. Dissolve the sugar into the hot tea and then set aside and allow to cool.

  • Add a shot of gin in each of the glasses with lots of ice.

  • Pour the steeped flowering tea into the glasses of gin and ice.

  • Using tongs, put the tea flower into one of the glasses for decoration.

  • Add extra garnishes such as mint sprigs, lemon slices, cucumber or rosemary.
