What’s in an Apple Chai Hot Tea Toddy?
An apple hot toddy usually consists of warm apple juice and a spirit of choice, usually whisky or dark rum. This apple chai hot tea toddy contains warm apple juice infused with aromatic masala chai, a dash of lemon, honey or maple syrup and topped with apple pieces and cinnamon sticks.
Should I use Apple Juice or Apple Cider for this Hot Toddy?
Apple juice and non alcoholic apple cider are practically the same thing. Apple juice is a more filtered version of apple cider. Apple cider contains some apple pulp and sediment. You can use either apple juice or non alcoholic apple cider for this hot tea toddy recipe.
Why use Masala Chai in a Hot Toddy?
Chai is quite possibly my favourite tea. The aromatic taste and aroma pair so well with sweet flavours just like in this apple chai hot toddy recipe. Chai is super versatile in so many different recipes and that’s one of the main reasons why I use chai so often in so many recipes.

Making these hot tea toddies from scratch takes less than ten minutes to do. Firstly, infuse your chai into your hot apple juice before straining out the leaves. Next, add a sweetener of your choice (I like honey in this recipe), lemon juice, and your favourite tipple (I like whisky for this recipe). Serve with cinnamon sticks and slices of apple.
