🌍 Tea Culture From Around the World
Tea isn't just a drink; it's also a tradition, a ritual, and a reflection of culture. At Rosie Loves Tea, I love exploring how tea is enjoyed across the globe, from fascinating ancient customs to modern teatime trends.
🌍 In China, tea pets, small clay figures placed on tea trays, are “fed” during Gong Fu Cha ceremonies. As you pour tea over the cute tea figurines, they gradually change colour and bring good luck and abundance to the tea drinker.
🌍 In Turkey, tea is more than refreshment—it’s hospitality. Turkish tea is brewed strong and served in beautiful tulip-shaped glasses, often alongside conversation, backgammon, and a plate of sweets.
🌍 Across Asia and beyond, bubble tea (or boba) has become a cultural icon. This sweet, customizable drink features chewy tapioca pearls and endless flavour combinations—from fruity teas to creamy matcha.
🌍 High in the Himalayas, Po Cha, or Tibetan butter tea, is a rich, salty blend of black tea, yak butter, and salt, crafted to warm and nourish in the cold mountain air. It really is an acquired taste, but deeply rooted in tradition and community.
From spiritual rituals to modern cafés, tea culture is as diverse as it is beautiful. Join me as I celebrate the many ways tea brings people together.
