Anti Aging Kombucha and Rose Facial Toner

Can you put Kombucha on Your Face?

You can indeed put kombucha on your face and it works wonderfully as a natural facial toner either on it’s own or with other ingredients such as rose water and witch hazel. Kombucha is acidic, the ideal pH level for kombucha is between 3.5 and 2.8. The longer kombucha is brewed for, the more likely it will have a lower pH level. Over brewed kombucha is often referred to as kombucha vinegar and can be used in a similar way to apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar can also be used as a natural toner.

What do Toners Do?

Facial toners will help cleanse and remove impurities from your face. A facial toner will also help smooth and balance out skin tone, hence the name ‘toner’. Toners will often cleanse and unclog the pores which can be beneficial to acne sufferers.

Is Kombucha Good for Anti Aging?

Many off the shelf skincare lines contain tea and/or kombucha due to the anti aging effects of EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate) found in tea, plus tea is wonderfully gentle yet powerfully detoxifying.

Kombucha contains heaps of antioxidants which aid in detoxifying the body, has anti fungal, anti bacterial and anti viral properties. If used directly on the skin, it will help even skin tone, brighten the skin and will also aid in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving a youthful glow and firmness to the skin.

Kombucha is fermented tea. It has a rather vinegary (but sweet) taste and aroma kind of like non alcoholic cider. It works very similar to that of apple cider vinegar as a toner. ACV also works great as a natural facial toner.

How do you use Kombucha Toner?

Use kombucha toner after you have cleansed your face. Toner can be used once or twice per day, morning and night on clean and dry skin. Use cotton rounds, clean finger tips or spritz on your face. If you have sensitive skin you may need work up to daily use. If you are new at using a facial toner, perhaps try every other day or every three days until your skin is used to it. You can always work your way up to using it once or twice a day.

How to Make an Anti Aging Kombucha and Rose Facial Toner at Home

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Tablespoons of Unflavoured Kombucha

  • 4 Tablespoons of Rose Water

  • 2 Tablespoons of Witch Hazel - Optional (For Acne Prone Skin)

METHOD

  • Combine the unflavoured kombucha, rose water and optional witch hazel in a small jar or spray bottle (tip: store in a glass or ceramic container with a non metallic lid as metal can react with the kombucha).

  • Use once or twice a day after cleansing and before applying moisturizer and make up. Apply with cotton pads, fingers or by spraying over the face and neck.

  • Store in the fridge and use within 7 days.
