No Whisk, No Problem!
There are many ways to mix matcha without a whisk. Using a bamboo whisk is the traditional method of mixing matcha and ideally it is the best way. Alternatively, if you have a milk frother that would be great to use. I often use a milk frother for a quick matcha. However, if you a haven’t a traditional whisk or milk frother, you can always use a small kitchen hand whisk and whisk vigorously to ensure that the mix is lump free. You can use a mason jar with ice and shake it up, this is a great way to create matcha cocktails. You can use an immersion blender or blender, this is a great way to make matcha smoothies.
What is Matcha Green Tea?
Matcha, is a type of green tea made in Japan. Traditionally, matcha is used in a spiritual tea ceremony. To make the matcha powder, the leaf is ground slowly to ensure that no heat is made during the grinding process. The leaf needs to retain it’s striking green freshness that matcha is so famous for.
Matcha tea is traditionally enjoyed as a drink made by a special bamboo whisk. If you don’t have a whisk, don’t let that stop you from enjoying matcha green tea. Here, this recipe can be made using a milk frother or immersion blender as an alternative to the traditional bamboo whisk.
Culinary Rose Water for Tea Lattes
The best type of rose water to use in cooking is culinary rose water. There is also the cosmetic type of rose water that I wouldn’t recommend using in food related recipes. You can purchase edible rose water from the supermarket in the cake making isle or on amazon.
Rose water can be quite overpowering, if you aren’t used to the taste, I would recommend using just a few drops at a time as not to ruin your latte.
